Working Student or Internship - Autonomous Driving Simulation & Robotics (m/f/d)
Join our R&D team working on the next generation of autonomous logistics vehicles. Topics such as autonomous driving, connected vehicles, intelligent logistics, and e-mobility are being actively developed and deployed. In this role, you will contribute to the modeling, simulation, and virtual validation of autonomous vehicle functions using cutting-edge tools such as NVIDIA Omniverse Isaac Sim, ROS 2 and Autoware.
You will take on independent responsibilities while applying the latest methods and technologies from the fields of robotics, simulation, and autonomous driving. The work offers direct exposure to industrial applications of autonomous vehicles and simulation-driven development.
Your tasks
- Developing and enhancing simulation environments using NVIDIA Omniverse Isaac Sim
- Integrating and evaluating the open-source autonomous driving framework Autoware
- Modeling autonomous logistics vehicles, sensor systems, and operational environments
- Creating and executing simulation scenarios for logistics and yard automation applications
- Developing Software-in-the-Loop (SiL) and virtual validation concepts
- Simulating and validating LiDAR, radar, camera, GNSS, and IMU sensors
- Developing interfaces between Isaac Sim, ROS 2, and autonomous driving software components
- Analyzing simulation results, performance metrics, and validation data
- Correlating simulation outcomes with real-world vehicle testing results
- Documenting findings and presenting recommendations to the engineering team
Your Profile
- Currently enrolled in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, or a related field
- Passionate about autonomous driving, robotics, simulation, and intelligent vehicle systems
- Solid programming skills in Python and/or C++
- Basic knowledge of Linux development environments
- First experience with ROS/ROS 2, NVIDIA Omniverse Isaac Sim, Autoware, or similar technologies is a plus
- Familiarity with topics such as computer vision, machine learning, sensor simulation, vehicle dynamics, or robotics
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Independent, structured working style and good communication skills in English (German is an advantage)
